The Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) is the legal owner of this web site.

This privacy statement applies to the website known as ACTU Worksite with a home page address of www.worksite.actu.org.au. ACTU is the sole owner of the information collected on ACTU Worksite.

The purpose of this statement is to let you know what information is collected about you when you visit ACTU Worksite, how this information is used, to whom it is disclosed, and your ability to have any incorrect personal information amended. The ACTU is strongly committed to protecting your privacy when interacting on our site. We want to provide a safe and secure environment for both adults and children. Information is collected from you primarily to make it easier and more rewarding for you to use our services. Depending on the service you are accessing, you could be asked to provide information such as your name, email address or information about what you like and do not like. It is entirely your choice whether to respond to these questions or not. We will only use any personal information you have chosen to provide for the purpose for which you provided it. The information will not be used for any other purpose without your consent.

The information collected

The ACTU site collects two types of information. The first type is anonymous information. The web server managed by Creative Factory makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes:

the user's server address,
the date and time of the visit to the site,
the pages accessed and documents downloaded,
the previous site visited, and
the type of browser used.

Email address

We will record your e-mail address if you send us a message, subscribe to an email newsletter, or complete a form in which this information is requested. If subscribing to an email newsletter you may "unsubscribe" at any time from the newsletter mailing list. Email addresses will not be added to any other mailing lists. We will not disclose your email address without your consent unless required by law.

Use of cookies

The safety of children is very important to us. Whilst ACTU makes every reasonable effort to ensure that children's privacy and other rights are not compromised, it is ultimately the responsibility of parents to monitor their children's Internet usage.

This is to ensure that others cannot access your personal information and correspondence if you share a computer with someone else or are using a computer in a public place like a library or Internet cafe. ACTU Worksite student’s blog is a moderated site (http://actuworksite.blogspot.com). All comments are subject to the terms and condition set out below. The site welcomes and encourages a variety of opinions. ACTU Worksite student’s blog will not publish the names or identifying details of any specific person. Comments should be suitable for all ages and respectful of other participants. We accept anonymous user names for comments but encourage inclusion of residential suburb and state eg fastfood worker, NSW.

If you think that a comment that has been posted is offensive, unsuitable or has in some other way breached these terms and conditions, please email us at alert@ei.com.au with a link to the comment and your reasons for objecting to it. We will consider whether there are grounds for editing or removing the comment and take appropriate action, but you will not necessarily be contacted about our decision.
