Burrow, Sharan
- Former ACTU President (May 2000 - June 2010)
30 June 2010: ACTU president Sharan Burrow has stepped down to take up a position with the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC). The Brussels-based union body represents 176 million workers from 156 countries and territories. Sharran was elected unopposed to a four-year term as the ITUC's general secretary at its congress in Vancouver. She will be the first woman and the first Australian to take up the post.
Gerardine (Ged) Kearney is the new ACTU President from 1 July 2010.
