LEAVE - Personal leave

According to the Australian Government Workplace Authority, personal leave includes:
- Paid sick leave and carer’s leave for all employees excluding casuals (10 days for each year for employees who work a 38 hour week)
- Unpaid carer’s leave for all employees (2 days per occasion if paid leave has been used)
- Paid compassionate leave for all employees excluding casuals (2 days per occasion)
The employee is paid their basic rate of pay at the time the leave is taken.
When can I take personal leave?- Paid sick leave: when the employee is sick or injured (over two days and a doctor’s certificate is required)
- Paid carer’s leave: when as employee has to care for a member of his/her family
- Paid compassionate leave: when an employee takes leave when a family member becomes ill, or dies.
